Case study

Visit Gozo: destination marketing for a small island

A year-round content and social storytelling programme for Gozo, designed to make the island feel worth a trip in every month of the calendar, not only July and August.

The brief

Show the island people miss

Gozo is easy to photograph and hard to sell out of season. Most visitors arrive with a fixed picture in their heads: a beach, a boat, a day trip from Malta. The brief was to widen that picture without losing what makes the island recognisable.

The destination needed a steady, credible flow of content that could carry across social channels, partner use and seasonal pushes, produced locally, in real conditions, with the same visual language every month.

  • Audience. Short-haul European travellers and Malta-based day and weekend visitors.
  • Goal. More visits and overnight stays in the shoulder months.
  • Constraint. One island, a small calendar of events, and weather that changes the plan.

The work

What we did

  1. Built a content plan around the calendar

We mapped the island's year, feasts, harvests, weather, ferry patterns, quiet weeks, and turned it into content pillars and monthly priorities, so every shoot had a commercial reason to exist.

  2. Produced on location, in season

Recurring shoot days across the island covering landscape, food, craft, villages, coast and people. Photography, phone-shot reels and higher-production video captured in the conditions the visitor would actually meet.

  3. Told it as a story, not a brochure

Social-first storytelling with hooks, captions and formats built for each platform. Fewer postcard shots, more reasons to come, a walk, a table, a workshop, a morning swim in October.

  4. Ran seasonal campaigns on top

Shoulder-season and festive pushes with one clear idea, a defined audience and a clear action, amplified with paid social and reported back so the next season started from evidence.

The island always looked good. The change was having a plan behind the content, so it worked in November as well as August.
